  • Please Call Us and Come in for Your Annual Flu Shot

    Posted on October 20, 2016

Annual flu shots have been with us for quite some time and my experience has been that getting a flu shot at this time of the year can help maintain good health through the winter season. If you have questions before coming in, please call me and we can go over why I think they are important.

Please know that over 200,000 people a year are hospitalized due to the flu every year.

In the meantime, Piedmont Healthcare over in Atlanta posted a page with ten reasons why you should consider annual flu shots.

  • Our Fall Weather Gives Us a Great Time to Start an Exercise Regimen

    Posted on October 10, 2016

As you would expect, we see many patients on a weekly basis and because of this know that those patients who get regular exercise are the ones who are healthiest. This is why we suggest regular exercise as much as anything else as a way to maintain the best health possible.

If you are looking for a good starting point during this great fall weather, a daily, brisk walk is a great start any exercise regimen. A walk can be fit in at any time during the day or early evening.

So walking every day is a great start. Of course, there are many more directions you can take. We are blessed here in Mobile with a lot of different fitness options, including fitness centers, running trails, and more.

Exercise can, and should, be a part of everyone’s daily life if at all possible. Fall is a great time of the year to start an exercise program or build on one you already have.

When you come into our offices, let’s speak about what level of exercise might be appropriate for you.

  • Never hesitate to call us if you need assistance

    Posted on September 25, 2016

We wanted to post a blog entry to make sure practice members know to call us with any health related question, no matter how unimportant it may seem. Small issues can become large issues, and by dealing with them early on we can assist you in taking better care of yourself.

So patients – call us when you need us. As an Access MD patient you should have Dr. Hashimi’s personal number. We are here to serve!

  • The Importance of Annual Exams

    Posted on September 3, 2016

I enjoy practicing medicine using the Access MD concierge model of medicine for many reasons.

One of the main reasons is that concierge medicine allows me to offer more personalized attention by following the health of Access MD patients over long periods of time, and in a very comprehensive way.

Benefits accrue over time for Access MD patients. Of course, as we age, health care becomes more and more important in our lives.

Annual health checkups are a critical component to that process. So as a reminder, please schedule an annual exam with me in order for us to jointly focus on whatever issues you might be facing. Fall is a great time of the year to take note of where you are health wise.

With Access MD you are always seen by a board certified MD whether you are coming in for an annual exam or an immediate health need. In today’s world, that is not always the case in traditional practices.

  • No Change This Summer to Office Hours

    Posted on July 23, 2016

As you might know, my medical assistant here at Access MD for the last four years, has left us to go back to the hospital where she had been working before joining Access MD when we first opened the practice.

We have been interviewing for a new medical assistant and we think we have found the right person to take her place.

This change has not affected our office hours during this period. Please call whenever you have a health related question. Of course, you can also use CareCloud, which is our Patient Portal system. You can find the CareCloud link at the bottom of any page on our website.

  • What Prospective Patients Can Expect From an Initial Visit

    Posted on July 6, 2016

As you might already know, an experience with Access MD is different than the ordinary care you might receive with most other medical practices. Since our annual fee structure allows us the opportunity to serve fewer patients, our patients receive more attention than what is typical in a larger practice, including no overbooking, no long wait, same day or next day appointments, and direct email or telephone access to me.

The Access MD difference begins with the initial appointment. We know that our practice is best suited for certain types of patients, and with that first appointment we are able to see if a relationship between the prospective patient and Access MD fits the needs of everyone involved. My philosophy is to provide the highest quality care in a personalized way to improve health, well-being, and prevent disease.

Personally, I think this approach is one of the reasons our patients have been so open to referring their friends and family members to us. Our patients know that we are not interested in having a large practice, and that if someone they send to us can be better served by another physician or type of specialty practice, then we will let them know and help them find the right care for their unique circumstance.

We appreciate our current patients sending us new referrals and trusting us with their care. When they send someone our way we will make sure the fit is right for everyone involved, so that we can continue to offer a personalized level of service and focus on improving our patients’ health.

  • Just a Reminder – Call in to Schedule Your Annual Physical Exam

    Posted on April 19, 2016

If you are a current patient,  you might have called in to schedule your annual physical but we just wanted to send out a reminder to the rest of you to do so as well.

Spring is a great time to check in for your annual physical as you make summer travel plans and generally become more active with more outside activities.

Annual physicals give us “Benchmarks” for your health situation. The tests we run allow us to catalog changes from year to year, and this helps us spot trends which might end up affecting your health.

Just call our offices to set up a time. We look forward to seeing you.

  • A Short Note on the Mobile Events Mentioned in Last Month’s Newsletter

    Posted on April 8, 2016

You might remember that last month we highlighted three events here in Mobile. They were the Azalea Trail Run, the Festival of Flowers, and a fundraiser for Camp Rap-A-Hope, which as you know is Access MD’s “adopted” nonprofit organization.

Even with the really bad weather which closed the Festival of Flowers for a few days, all three events were great successes. The Trail Run was once again well attended, and the Wine, Women, and Shoes fundraiser for Camp Rap-A-Hope raised both money and awareness for the Camp.

Mobile is a a great place to live, isn’t it?

We look forward to seeing all of you out and about during the spring and summer months!

  • The Long Term Value of Access MD for Our Patients

    Posted on March 29, 2016

The other day a long-time Access MD patient  came in once again for her annual exam.

Seeing her reminded me that Access MD will shortly be entering its fourth year of existence.

It also reminded me that while Access MD is providing an excellent service to patients when they have immediate needs, tangible benefits also accrue to our patients over time.

Since our concierge practice allows us to spend the time necessary to really get to know our patients and their needs, the value of being an Access MD patient increases over time in a way which is rarely the case with a more traditional medical practice. This is the Access MD difference.

It has been almost four years since Access MD was created, and we are grateful for our practice growth in that time. More importantly though, we are grateful for the long term relationships we are building with our patients.
